"Shanghai Fangsheng Bridge Story", "Under the Sky of Shanghai", followed by the third installment in the Jiangnan series.
A Journey Through Jiangnan's Ancient Towns and Teahouses, Begun in1992.This collection features 36 teahouses cherished by literati and ordinary people alike, some with histories spanning two to three centuries. Among them are notable establishments such as Club Teahouse in Zhujiajiao Town and Fanglu Pavilion Teahouse in Wuzhen. Most of these teahouses disappeared around the year 2000, swept away by the waves of economic reform.
Photographed between 1992 and 2004, this work captures the warmth of these spaces and the quietly fading everyday lives of the people who inhabited them. Photographer Shinzo Hanabusa has compiled this work as a culmination of stories woven by Jiangnan's ancient towns.
